If you do, you might want to consider offering a room to a student learning child development in return for a certain number of hours of housework and/or childcare each month. I did this when I turned eighteen, and lived with a wonderful family for six months at no cost while I finished high school. I was nanny to their three year old and helped out with housework and yard work.

Also consider WWOOF, a community of volunteers who want to learn organic farming. Homesteads are allowed in the program, even small ones, and the volunteer will come and stay with you for a few days to two weeks and help/learn. Most of the volunteers are more than happy to crash on a couch during their stay.

http://www.wwoof.org/Patricialynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16656235987162214880noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4007490949582525706.post-47758121062662109272011-09-24T08:53:55.654-04:002011-09-24T08:53:55.654-04:00Hang in there! Recently we were given a huge box of apples and I was planning on making apple sauce with them, but they didn't keep. :(mamamiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12544290867067647720noreply@blogger.com
