Final Clue in Mystery Plant Contest

Looks like the mystery plant is producing....something, so the contest that I first posted a bit over a month ago is about to come to a close.  Hard to believe that it took less than a month and a half for these plants, whatever they are to go from this:
(the tiny "weed" on the side of the bucket)
to this:
All three mystery plants are in this cluster together
and keep trying to sprawl across the yard!

If you think you know what they are, you can post your answer on either the original contest post or on this post's comment section.  Don't post your answers on Facebook or Twitter, since those answers won't be counted.  I'll only look on the blog itself when deciding the winner.

The winner will receive a prize pack containing The Container Expert: What to buy and what to grow in tubs, pots, troughs, hanging baskets and window boxes, some random heirloom seeds (if you live in the US, exact seeds may depend on where you live), and maybe some other stuff, if I can find something else good to throw in there.  Good luck!

  1. my guess is a spaghetti squash. I can't see if it has a bottle neck but from this angle it doesn't appear to.

  2. Just keep in mind that a lot of vine plants will cross-pollinate. We've had cukins (cucumber/pumpkin) before.

  8. I'm gonna go with a melon of some sort, thinking cantaloupe or honeydew, something along those lines. My initial thoughts were that someone spit seeds into your buckets! ;-)
