How'd you like a chance to win a copy of the book I've been raving about, Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving
? How cool would that be? Why am I giving it away? Because I can
! Hahaha! That joke never gets old to me. Seriously, it is because I was at my mom's house yesterday and she gave me a copy to give away. She didn't want to do a giveaway on her blog Lawnless Trials Goes Homesteading
, so she thought one of my lucky, lucky readers might enjoy it!
There are four ways to enter to win. Seriously! Four ways!
- Comment on this blog post telling me what you most want to can (make sure I have a way to contact you if you win!)
- Comment on my Facebook page telling me what you most want to can (which means, of course, that you have to "like" me on Facebook in order to do that)
- Follow me on Twitter
- Participate in the Homestead Happenings linky that I put up yesterday.
That's it. How easy-peasy is that? The contest runs until Friday 9/9/11 at 11:59 EST, which not coincidentally is when the linky
closes. At midnight, I will randomly select a winner from all entries and will announce the winner in Saturday's blog post. This contest is
open internationally, since there is no seeds or plant matter to worry about customs with. Good luck!
I'd like to be entered, please!ReplyDelete
I seem to have to enter as anonymous - I don't have a "url" to enter to use my 'net name of LadyBehir.
please enter me as well---I am always looking for new recipes to can up----my Ball book is from about 10 years ago, and I am sure they have lots of new stuff! :) Thanks! I am already a fan on here and on your FB page.ReplyDelete
I'd love to learn how to can lots of things, mostly my homegrown tomatoes. I just found your blog last week & I love it, keep up the good work!ReplyDelete
I would like to can some plum conserve. I've never canned before, but I want to get into it.ReplyDelete
I want to venture into different areas of canning other than just making my usual strawberry jam and pickles!....ReplyDelete
I don't know how to leave my e-mail without it being seen by everyone.. :(
Pardon me if I post the same thing here I did on your Facebook.ReplyDelete
I want to can summer.
I'm pregnant with twins, and winters here are cold and icky. I'm due in December- I want to have sunshine and summer to eat while I nurse my children. Tomato sauces, green beans, cucumbers, peaches and pears and apples and berries- all from my father's farm. I want to can summer, and share it with my girls.
(I can add more. >> More space here.)
I want golden corn and rich, colorful fruits, veggies that are full of flavor and nutrition. I want the best I can give my girls, and to my son as well.
I'm afraid I have nothing more specific- just that I want to open a jar in the icky dead of winter, in December when I'm working out the details of twins and in January when I'm exhausted from the holidays and in February when I just want winter to be over... I want to open a jar and have a meal made of summer's beauty.

I want to learn to can everything! I just got done with peaches. Tomorrow I have some tomatoes that have to get done to. I tried spaghetti sauce nut didn't like the taste so looking for inspiration!ReplyDelete
Wow, really cool. I really want to learn the art of canning cucumbers/making pickles. Tomatoes would be great too--homemade pasta sauce, yummy. I'll be posting this on Facebook, as well.ReplyDelete
I want to can vege soup.ReplyDelete
I still haven't canned yet!! I'm trying to try cucumbers, and various fruits though but, without something in front of me to follow, I'm flat out chicken to do it! :P I'm not sure what else there is to can but, I want to can it all! :DReplyDelete
Awesome giveaway. I'm actually looking for NEW recipes instead of the same old things I've been canning before. I've entered a bunch of things in this year's county Fair and want to find something new and different to enter next. So I'm not sure yet what it is I want to can until I find the right recipe. I do know that this year my pumpkins out on the vine are going gangbusters so I'm thinking something like pumpkin butter will be on the list.ReplyDelete
I follow you on Facebook as Fragmentary Green and on Twitter as @fragmentallyme. I want to can blackberries, and tomatoes (especially the tomatoes, no more acidic foods in BPA lined cans!), and anything I come across on a foraging trip. I've never canned anything before, so winning the canning bible would be awesome.ReplyDelete
I want to can tomatoes/salsa/jam.. am new to canning and some canning acquaintances of mine use this book as their bible. I can be reached at email@example.comReplyDelete
I been canning local tomatoes and wild berry jam but I want to learn more about canning and preserving so I can more and be prepared for next year when I hopefully have my own little homestead.ReplyDelete
I want to learn to can all kinds of tomatoes, I would love to win one of the books.ReplyDelete
I want to can tomatoe veggie soup like my grandmother use to make. I'm a beginer so still learning.
I;m following you on twitter @bmunn1973
I don't have a blog so this is my Homestead Happenings. This past week we installed 2 rainbarrels and thanks to tropical storm Lee they're both FULL! We just started some carrots and squash and today I'll be starting some herbs inside to use through the winter....and that's whats happening in my world :)
I would love to put up anything having to do with lemons or oranges later this season. Right now, I am thick into finishing the waning peaches in our area and heading into apple canning. Fun, fun, fun!ReplyDelete
I have my canning all done for the season. Going to can pepper jelly for the first time.ReplyDelete
