Whew! The holidays and their associated madness are finally over! Things are extra crazy around here this time of year since one of my son's has a birthday on New Year's Day. Finally, it is done though, and I can recover and start new projects.

My son's birthday cake. Amazingly, this thing doesn't contain any artificial colors! The outer rim is Kit Kat bas and the inner M&M like things are Sunspire Sundrops. The cake itself is an unremarkable Bonnie Butter Cake from an old Betty Crocker Cookbook with plain white vanilla frosting. |
So on to the present. The holiday events plus the addition of my oldest son to the household for the holidays cut heavily into our food stamps for the month, so there is only about $21 to last us until the 21st now, at which time they will be upping our allotment to something close to what normal people can live on. This is fine though, since, really, I have most everything I could need to make just about everything we might want (but, still, if you feel bad about this and want to help out financially, there is always that donate button on the right, since we still have less income than bills, even living a pretty simple life by modern standards!). A well stocked kitchen is such a blessing (probably should do some posts on that at some point, too, eh?)! Anyhoo, I probably won't need to buy anything other than a few drinks like milk and juice for the kids (we do get WIC but there isn't much left on there until the 15th) and maybe something like butter.
Here is my no-grocery-shopping-needed meal plan for the week:
Monday: leftovers from my son's birthday party, including bbq turkey sandwiches, pasta salad, baked beans, fresh veggies, stuffed mushrooms, and spinach cheese balls
Tuesday: turkey
stew with dumplings
Wednesday:
baked macaroni & cheese, green beans
Thursday:
cheesy chicken & rice casserole (finally brought out of the freezer and heated)
Friday: venison steak, mashed potatoes with gravy, carrots
Saturday: spaghetti with
meatballs
Sunday:
cheese enchiladas
